History

Today's Caisse populaire Rideau d'Ottawa is the result of the merger of the Notre-Dame and Sainte-Anne-Laurier, in mai 2003.

The Caisse populaire Sainte-Anne d'Ottawa was founded on March 31, 1912, by Wilfred C. Labelle and the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste. The Caisse populaire Notre-Dame d'Ottawa was founded on April 27, 1913 by the Cercle Duhamel.

The history of the Caisse populaire Rideau d'Ottawa begins in May 1910 with the founding of the Caisse populaire Ste-Famille. It was followed in 1912 and 1913 by the caisses populaires Ste-Anne d'Ottawa and Notre-Dame d'Ottawa.

In 1980, the Caisse Ste-Famille, by then the Caisse populaire Cartier, merged with the Caisse Notre-Dame d'Ottawa. A few months earlier, the Caisse Notre-Dame d'Ottawa had itself acquired the assets of the Caisse St-Bonaventure d'Ottawa.

As for the Caisse Ste-Anne d'Ottawa, over the period 1975 to 1984 it merged with the caisses St-Thomas-D'Aquin (1975), Montfort (1981) and Pembroke (1981), and then Laurier (1984). Following the final merger, the caisse adopted the name Caisse populaire Ste-Anne-Laurier.

Finally, the caisses Notre-Dame d'Ottawa and Ste-Anne-Laurier merged to form the Caisse populaire Rideau d'Ottawa on May 1, 2003.

On April 3, 2006, the Caisse populaire Rideau d'Ottawa moved its head office from 293 Dalhousie St. to 147 Rideau St. The year 2012 marks its 100th anniversary of foundation.
